If you're anything like me, you can ALWAYS use another online platform to advertise your property listings – especially when that platform is FREE.

In this blog post, I'm going to show you 50 different websites you can use to put together a simple real estate listing and post it for thousands of new eyeballs to see.

As you'll probably recognize, some of these websites are more established, some of them have a more targeted audience for real estate and some of them get significantly more traffic than others… so to keep it simple, I'm going to start with my current “Top 10” and follow with the rest of the websites that are currently operating on the internet.

Side Note: While it's easy to assume your property listings only belong on websites with tons of traffic, I think it's also important not to overlook the value of having your listings in front of many different audiences. Even when an advertising outlet is less recognized or newer to the market, it could still be worth your while to post your property information there.

Remember, the goal is to get your listing in front of as many potential buyers as possible, and the buyers who browse on Website A may never think of browsing on Website B (or C, or D, or E). Since we can never know precisely where our next buyer will come from, it may be worth your consideration to look at what each of these options can bring to the table (and since none of these cost a dime, the only thing you stand to lose is your time).

1. Craigslist

Craigslist logoWhen most people think of FREE online marketplaces, one of the first websites that come to mind is Craigslist (and as one of the highest traffic websites in the world today, it's no surprise why).

Craigslist has long been an ideal place to find buyers and sellers for all types of real estate – mainly because there are a lot of people taking part in every sub-category of this online platform.

Craigslist ads are very basic with no frills (which follows the same general theme of the website as a whole). As you can see from this screenshot – they're nothing special, but they get the job done.

Craigslist screenshot

Even though Craigslist is clearly the winner in terms of traffic, it's not necessarily the most versatile medium. There are plenty of restrictions in place (like the inability to link to third-party websites and embed videos), however with the tools that are available – it's more than enough to inform buyers about what the property has to offer and drum up enough interest to generate some legitimate leads and sales.

Here's a quick rundown of the features Craigslist has to offer:
  • Image Uploading? Yes – Up to 24 Images
  • Video Supported? No
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Google Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? No
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? No

In my opinion, Craigslist is a listing platform that is ALWAYS worthwhile to use (whether you're selling as the owner or the agent). With the hundreds of millions of visitors the site gets each month, it's pretty hard not to play on this platform.

2. Zillow

Zillow logoZillow is another massive online platform designed specifically for the real estate crowd. Rather than serving the needs of many different types of buyers and sellers like Craigslist, this website is focused specifically on being the number one marketplace for buyers and sellers of real estate.

The great thing about Zillow is that it's one of the few online real estate marketplaces that also allows property owners to post real estate listings For Sale By Owner for FREE… and this is actually kind of a big deal.

There are hundreds of millions of people passing through this site each month (with many of them coming from syndicated outlets like AOL, Yahoo, Trulia, and more) and most of them are there with the sole purpose of looking for real estate to buy and rent. It's also worth noting that many buyers start their search with Zillow (instead of looking only at their local MLS listings), so it's a great way to gain exposure to a massive (and targeted) audience at no cost.

I actually think Zillow listings are some of the best when it comes to compiling the information. Not only do the listings look pretty good (aesthetically speaking), but they also come with a lot of supplemental data built-in with their various drop-down items, which can help prospective buyers learn more of the story behind each listing.

Zillow screenshot

Here's a quick rundown of the features Zillow has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes
  • Video Supported? Yes – you can link to third-party videos (off-site) or you can add a self-shot video via your mobile device.
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Bing Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? No
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

My only real complaint with Zillow FSBO Listings is their video feature. While I'm certainly glad they provide ANY options to add video (unlike most of the free listing sites I've come across), I'm not a huge fan of their 2-minute self-shot video option. It's not easy to show a property in its best light in under 2 minutes and/or by only using the camera in your pocket. It's unfortunate that they don't offer the ability to upload or embed a higher-quality, better-produced video. If they added this option, it would be a MAJOR improvement to their FSBO listing platform.

3. Facebook

Facebook is a website that needs no introduction. In addition to being the dominant player in social media today, it has also grown into a very active and effective place to buy and sell real estate. Whether you post properties for sale in the Facebook Marketplace or one or more local “For Sale” Facebook Groups in your area – this social platform offers a TON of opportunities to get more exposure.

With a website like Facebook, most people are already spending time here every day (and they're not here solely for the purpose of finding real estate deals), so there's a great opportunity to catch the attention of buyers through a different (and hugely popular) avenue of the internet.

If you can get your property information posted in the right groups and include some great, high-quality pictures and basic property information, it's a fantastic way to increase your chances of finding a buyer for your property.

The property listings look similar to most Facebook posts…

Facebook screenshot

Here are some of the features Facebook has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes – Up to 42 Images
  • Video Supported? Yes
  • Mapping Functionality? No
  • Linking to Outside Sites? Yes
  • Special Promotion Options? Yes
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

Keep in mind, if you include a longer property description with these kinds of ads, users will have to manually click “See More” to read everything – so really, the primary selling point that catches most people's interest is the pictures. Paying a little extra for a good photographer to take good pictures can go a LONG way on Facebook.

Facebook makes it easy to link to an outside website (like your selling website, for instance), so you can always include the more detailed listing information there, as long as you can draw your buyer's attention with a few good pictures and enough information to entice them to click through.

Another nice thing about Facebook is that once you create a posting, it's very easy to post it in multiple Facebook groups (if you happen to be a member of more than one group that will find the information relevant)… which means you don't have to “fight the system” to get more exposure, like you would with a website like Craigslist.

4. LandSearch

landsearch logoLandSearch is a real estate listing site with one of the best user interfaces I've seen, and the fact that it's focused specifically on land is a HUGE added bonus for land investors.

On LandSearch, you can list your property for sale, for lease, or as an auction. Their map also provides several unique features especially useful for land buyers and sellers. Everything from topographic maps, parcel lines, water features, traffic, and public land indicators, the developers clearly took the time to understand what land professionals want, which is a unique perspective you won't often find on other real estate listing websites.

LandSearch Screenshot

LandSearch pulls many of their property listings from MLS networks around the country, but they will also allow individual sellers to post their listings for free. A human reviews every new listing to ensure quality and that sufficient information is included (valid property photos, a decent description, and other basic details), and as with any platform, the more quality information you provide, the better your listing is likely to perform.

Here are some of the features LandSearch has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes – no limits.
  • Video Supported? Yes
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes
  • Linking to Outside Sites? There is a very subtle link back to the source if provided. Non-licensed sellers can create a profile page with a website and social links.
  • Special Promotion Options? Yes
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

While this site is geared towards land buyers and sellers, you can also post land with houses and other features on it (like tiny homes and cabins). There are tens of thousands of active listings for properties with improvements!

5. Connected Investors

Connected Investors logoIf you're a real estate investor, Connected Investors is a site you ought to know about. It's a pretty sizable online community of like-minded people, and the site offers more than just networking opportunities; you can also list your properties for sale (as well as view properties for sale from other investors).

Since the vast majority of folks on this website are real estate investors – it's important to recognize that people are here to make money from real estate… so the properties generally aren't going to be priced absurdly high, but for investors who want to get in and squeeze some equity out of the deal.

Something I appreciate about the property listing platform on this site is that you can enter in A LOT of deal-specific details that real estate investors are going to care about, as explained in this video (e.g., costs associated with owning the property, cash flow details, zoning and uses, etc.). I also really liked the ticking time clock at the top of each listing, as it helps instill a sense of urgency/scarcity for anyone who wants to take advantage of the deal.

Here's a quick snapshot of what their listings look like…

Connected Investors screenshot

Here are some of the features Connected Investors has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes – I uploaded dozens and dozens of images and couldn't find their limit.
  • Video Supported? No
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Google Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? Yes
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

This site probably isn't the best fit for a one-time FSBO seller or a real estate agent targeting owner-occupied buyers, but if you're targeting the real estate investing community at large (say, if you're a wholesaler or a seller of turnkey rental properties) – it's a great place to get some exposure to a very targeted audience.

6. ForSaleByOwner

For Sale By Owner logoForSaleByOwner is one of the more well-known websites for property owners who want to sell their home without paying a commission to an agent. Ironically, both of their premium listing packages actually do involve third-party agents who get paid (either by the buyer or the seller) from the sale… however, I think the most notable part of this site is that it also offers a FREE 30-day listing option, and their ads are put together pretty nicely too.

Considering this website brings in millions of targeted visitors each month AND the listings are supposedly syndicated to appear on Redfin, HomeFinder and more, it may very well be worth your time and effort to upload your listing details to this website.

Here's a quick look at how these ads are laid out…

forsalebyowner listing example

Here are some of the other features this site has to offer:
  • Image Uploading? Yes (limited to 20 images for free listings)
  • Video Supported? Yes
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Bing Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? Yes
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

This site is a great fit for people selling to a targeted audience of real estate buyers. I appreciated their integration of video (i.e. – virtual tours) into their listings as well as the supplemental tools they offer to users. The site makes it very easy for buyers to search for properties as well – so it's a great way to make your property information easily accessible to your prospects without getting lost in the shuffle of all the other listings out there.

7. Letgo

Letgo is a free listing website that seems to prioritize the ease of use and visual elements of each listing. In my interactions with the website, it seems to be intended more for a mobile audience than for those on their desktop computers.

While I haven't personally found a buyer through this website yet, I have heard from others who have gotten very fast results with it – so depending on which market you're working in, it's probably worth your while to at least try posting your properties here to see if they get any traction.

The Letgo app has a decent rating on iTunes, and from what I've seen of the listings I've posted on this website, the descriptions and pictures do legitimately look a lot better on a mobile device than when viewing it on a desktop (hopefully this will change, because most of the work I do is not on my phone).

Here's a screenshot of what these listings look like on a desktop:

LetGo screenshotHere are some of the features Letgo has to offer:
  • Image Uploading? Yes – Up to 10 Images
  • Video Supported? No
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Google Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? No
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? No

Letgo is unique in that listings are displayed to users based on their geo-location (which means buyers will see your listings if they're located in close physical proximity to it… which isn't always going to be the case with real estate).

The website and app also have chat capabilities, which can help communication between buyers and sellers.

8. Real Estate Bees Marketplace

realestatebees logoThe Real Estate Bees Marketplace is an up-and-coming platform with robust property listing capabilities and extensive reach. Whether you're the property owner, a Realtor representing a client, or a wholesaler trying to assign a contract, you can list your property for sale on this marketplace absolutely FREE!

Aside from being free for everyone, this marketplace has three major advantages over other real estate marketplaces. First, all the listed properties on the marketplace get automatically syndicated to a constantly growing network of national, regional, and local real estate websites, allowing you to draw more eyeballs to your property.

realestatebees screenshot

It also operates a massive list of buyers consisting of licensed professionals, local mom-and-pop investors, national institutional investing firms, owner-operators, and typical home shoppers. All the listed properties on the REB marketplace are included in instant and daily email blasts sent out to that buyer's list, thereby helping your property get in front of a significant number of targeted buyers.

And finally, the REB marketplace offers some of the most advanced property listing capabilities in the industry. When you list your property on the platform, you get to specify hundreds of different details of your property. With all the options available to you to choose from and add to enrich your listing, you can certainly showcase it to your potential buyers in the best possible manner.

Here are some of the features Real Estate Bees has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes
  • Video Supported? No
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Google Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? Yes
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

While other websites may have greater traffic consisting of retail home shoppers, the REB marketplace is rapidly gaining popularity among real estate investors, Realtors, property managers, lenders, and many other real estate professionals. This makes the platform ideal for property owners, licensed professionals, and wholesalers whose top priority is to sell fast and ideally for cash.

9. Fizber

Fizber logoFizber is another helpful website for listing properties, and it's one of those key platforms with a targeted audience for real estate buyers.

Fizber also offers sellers the ability to list properties on the MLS for a flat fee (without signing a contract with a real estate agent), which is another notable feature that most real estate listing sites don't bring to the table.

My only real complaint with Fizber was that the site doesn't allow sellers to list properties priced less than $25,000 (which seems like a random number to peg as the floor). For most sellers, this won't be an issue – but if you're selling something really cheap (like a $6,900 vacant lot), this pricing floor will obviously get in the way.

Fizber screenshot

Here are some of the features Fizber has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes
  • Video Supported? No
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Google Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? Yes
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

The listings on Fizber are pretty basic, and like most of the sites on this list – they're geared towards properties with improvements. The site gets a respectable amount of traffic (given that it's focused solely on the real estate crowd), but it's not quite in the same ballpark as Zillow or Craigslist. Overall, it's not a bad option to work with, especially if you're interested in blasting your listings out to the MLS as well.

10. Oodle

Oodle logoFrom what I've seen, Oodle probably has the most streamlined process for posting a property for sale. You don't have to navigate through page-after-page of details to post a property. Property sellers can fill out one simple submission form to get their entire listing compiled and posted in a matter of seconds (and it's especially fast if you already have the listing information prepared and you're just copying it from another source).

To be honest, I actually had a hard time with this site at first. For some reason, it was automatically flag and removing all of my listings almost immediately after posting… which was a little problematic. I'm still not sure why it was doing this – but I'm guessing it was because my listings were all for vacant land, and these properties typically don't have a verifiable street address. That being said, if you can actually get your listings posted successfully – the ads do a good job of highlighting all the important details in a short amount of space.

Perhaps the most notable thing about Oodle is that these listings are supposedly syndicated with Redfin – so when you post a listing on Oodle, you're also getting some notable exposure to another massive audience of real estate buyers.

Oodle screenshot

Here are some of the features Oodle has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes
  • Video Supported? Yes – YouTube
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Google Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Renewal Options? Yes
  • Special Promotion Options? No
  • Social Media Optimization: No
  • Account Required? Yes

Overall, I like how Oodle makes it pretty quick and simple to compile a listing, and the syndication with Redfin is another huge selling point for the site. Assuming you can get the site to keep your listing active without flagging and removing them (which was, unfortunately, a big obstacle for me), it's a nice little outlet to get some additional exposure for your listings.

11. Asset Column

AssetColumn logoI had never heard of Asset Column until I really started searching hard for free real estate listing websites. When I finally found it, I was honestly surprised it had never come across my radar earlier. This platform is designed pretty well, the website as a whole looks great and it makes the process of putting together a listing very easy.

I liked some of the unique features of the site, like how it specifies the percentage below market value each property is priced at, and the easy and prominent social sharing buttons. All in all, it seems like a pretty nice platform to post real estate listings on.

Here's a quick look at the standard listing…

AssetColumn screenshot

Here are some of the features Asset Column has to offer…
  • Image Uploading? Yes
  • Video Supported? No
  • Mapping Functionality? Yes – Google Maps
  • Linking to Outside Sites? No
  • Special Promotion Options? No
  • Social Media Optimization: Yes
  • Account Required? Yes

Like most free listing sites, the format isn't necessarily optimized for vacant land properties (like the kinds I typically sell), but it's certainly possible to work within the parameters they give you (Pro Tip: On the first step when they ask for an address… you can also enter in the GPS coordinates of your property, in case it doesn't have a registered address yet).

12. LandGate

LandGate Mobile AppLandGate is a unique marketplace that provides intelligent listings across the country through valuable risk and value index scores. In this marketplace, users can freely list properties for sale or for lease for resources like solar & wind development, minerals, and agriculture.

They also have a LandApp subscription tool that many land professionals are using to discover new clients and reconnect with old ones with potential properties they might be interested in.

Still Looking for More?

Okay, now that we've covered my current “Top 10”, I realize some people may still be looking for even more places they can post their real estate listings for free… so with those folks in mind, I spent some time scouring the internet to find an extensive list of websites that will allow this functionality.

Before you try out any of these websites, I haven't used all of these platforms, and I'm not intimately familiar with how they work (including what kinds of people run them and/or what kinds of people peruse them daily).

I'm not necessarily “endorsing” these websites or recommending that you use them; this is just a centralized list of what else is out there right now (note: this information was last updated in mid-2017), so you can investigate them on your own and decide if they're the right fit for you.

Make sense?

Here's what I was able to find out on the inter-web (in no particular order)…

13. HotPads

Hotpads are unique on this list because they are only intended for listing properties (houses, apartments, condos, etc.) for rent, not for sale. Nevertheless, this still fills a major need for many property owners. Since it's one of the bigger players in the space, with a very well-designed layout and interface, it's worth mentioning on this list.

This site pulls in over 10 million monthly visitors, and as one of the Zillow Group Brands, all listings are syndicated to appear on Zillow and Trulia, which is a huge value add.

14. TenantCloud

TenantCloud is a bit different from the other listing websites on this list. The first differentiator is that (similar to HotPads), it's intended only for rental properties and marketing them to prospective tenants (not selling a property outright).

Another key difference is that no prospective tenant searches on TenantCloud for rental properties. Instead, TenantCLoud syndicates their listings to websites (including Apartments.comZillow, and Facebook Marketplace through Rentler).

You can also simply use TenantCloud to host your listing and then share the URL wherever you want (post it on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, text it to a friend, or email it to everyone on your list). This gives you more control over who is looking at your rental property, which can be very useful in some cases.

TenantCloud is also a full-blown property management platform, which means the listing functionality is tightly integrated from listing to the application to lease to payment collection. TenantCloud is built for landlords, which means its usefulness can be taken much further than a site built strictly for advertising your properties.

15. OfferMarket

OfferMarket is a marketplace where you can create free listings for off-market real estate. The idea behind this website is to make real estate transactions faster and more efficient. Sellers can receive an instant offer for their property, and buyers can gain exclusive access to off-market deals.

16. ClassifiedAds

ClassifiedAds is another free listing website with a similar look and feel to Craigslist. You aren't required to maintain an account here, and the ads on this site also come with a nice little inquiry form at the bottom of each listing – so it's one less step for an interested party to contact the seller for more information. The listings also allow sellers to link to third-party websites, which is a nice little extra feature you can use to send extra traffic to your selling website.

17. FreeClassifieds

FreeClassifieds is another free listing website you can use to sell pretty much anything. You can post free local classified ads and search free local classifieds as well.

18. WebClassifieds

WebClassifieds is another US-based classified ads website you can use to buy, sell or trade. Similar to the other classified ads websites, this is another catch-all platform that us used to sell all types of items.

19. LandSaleListings

LandSaleListings is a great site to know about if you're trying to list and sell vacant land specifically. The site offers a few paid listing options, but it also allows users to post listings for free (with only one picture). It's not necessarily the most versatile or beautifully designed site on this list, but it's another valid option that doesn't cost anything and can potentially get your ad seen by a new audience.

20. AdLandPro

AdLandPro allows users to post free classified and local classifieds and does free online promotions with online business ads or classified postings.

21. Beycome

Beycome is a real estate listing site that offers both free and paid listing options. Designed specifically with FSBO sellers in mind.

36. Global Free Classified Ads

The Value of Free

At the end of the day, I think the ability to advertise your properties to anybody (even if it's just a small handful of people) without paying anything is always worth something.

Granted, some of the outlets mentioned above are going to generate more results than others (from a simple time investment and traffic generation standpoint), but if you're on a shoestring budget and/or you hate the idea of spending money, hopefully, these options will give you someplace to turn.

I think there's always a little bit of “luck” involved in finding the right buyer at the right time, and the best way to increase your luck is to get your property information in front of as many eligible buyers as possible.
